My story on my father, his father, and me was featured in the New York Times Modern Love Tiny Stories section! Link here. Pasting some screenshots below. For the longest time, I’ve loved reading the tiny love stories, no more than 100 words. It’s a lot harder than it looks to write a tiny story, and I’m grateful for the feature and for my father’s stories and care. It was also chosen to be in print for this Sunday! It’ll appear next to the main Modern Love essay in Sunday Styles. If you get the printed newspaper and see it, let me know.
And here’s an image of my father delivering food and books to me. I’m so glad the editor was moved by my submission, and I’ve heard from other readers who it’s resonated with as well. I always love hearing stories about my father and how even though he’d moved, how his father still stayed in touch.
And if you want more, to read past Tiny Love Stories, go to nytimes.com/modernlove. There is also a book of the editors’ favorite Tiny Love Stories. Click here to read reader submission terms.
On a side note, I’ll be sharing the words behind art of ZARINA DIVIDED, cover artist, Shehzil Malik’s illustrator interview tomorrow!
*Special Thanks to my father’s friend Jaime who saved and sent over the 1970’s photo of my father in color!
Thank you!! Tiny big accomplishment
So pumped for you! Congrats on landing the Times!! And squeezing the essence of a story into 100 words is so tough, I loved it. The love is clearly passed through generations.
