Welcome Home!

I love writing small.

I also love:

  1. Stepping out of the Abu Dhabi airport and having my glasses fog up instantly

  2. The word tapioca

  3. Plants with leaves that kiss the wooden floor

  4. Clouds going to sleep

  5. Pakistani crows

  6. My grandmother’s voice

  7. Skylights

  8. Sprinkling turmeric onto Maggie Ramen noodles and letting it saturate in the spicy soup, turning the noodles from skinny to fat

  9. My mother’s aloo-gosht curry with meat and potatoes

  10. The sounds of my once baby crawling on the wooden floor with her hands slapping the ground pat, pat, pat

  11. The clinking of dishes being done when it’s not me doing them

  12. Bubbling laughter of my cousins

  13. Seeing my name on Amazon

  14. The fleeting time of nursing and rocking my babies to sleep, forward, back, forward, back

  15. When the children are at school when the silence is so delicious you can slice into it

  16. The language of eyelashes

But who are you really?

I'm a children's book author of picture books and novels in verse. I've been a photoblogger at www.ReemFaruqi.com.

I'm an immigrant, a mother, a former 2nd grade teacher.

What Can You Offer Me?

Lyrical stories that reflect my own experiences, Micromemoirs, Bits of verse! At this time I don't think I'm going to be offering insider tips on getting published but here are some for you to get started.

My work for adults has been featured in Huff Post, Coffee & Crumbs, Literary Mama, Part-Time Poets, and more. I want to write more for adults lately, so without further ado…
